Culinary Highlights in Virgin Gorda, BVI

The wonderful tranquil island of Virgin Gorda in the BVI is on its way to become the new culinary hub of this wonderful country. Great news for food lovers. Of course, there is the favorite of many, “Cocomaya” (www.cocomayavg.com), the Peruvian Japanese fusion restaurant beautifully located right at the sea looking at the Francis Drake Channel. Excellent fresh produce makes a memorable dinner there.

A slightly new kid on the block is “Sugar Cane” (www.sugarcane.vg) at Nail Bay. Superb views, an elegant interior and fresh local and international specialties make this a new favorite hang out with many islanders. A most welcome back for two of the famous Little Dix Bay restaurants (www.littledixbay.com) “The Sugar Mill” now specializes in fresh seafood and crustations, served raw and hot, often in Tapas style proportions. Simply delicious. The newly renovated “Reef House” directly at the sandy beach offers farm to table food of excellent quality. The wine lists in both places needs to be commended.

The legendary small island of “Saba Rock” (www.sabarock.com) underwent a complete overhaul and is a stunning beauty now at North Sound. Wonderful local and everyone’s most loved dishes, plus some very well selected wines make for a spectacular evening in a most exciting place. For us, the present Top-Of-The-Pops is “Nova” (www.novarestaurant.com) at the glorious Oil Nut Bay resort. A top-notch location, superb modern, eclectic food, excellent wine list and very often outstanding entertainment made this an instant favorite with the sailors, local guests, and the people of Virgin Gorda. Enjoy!
